Career Summary
Joseph began his career in commercial real estate after his graduation from Arizona State University in 1978, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in real estate. His focus was primarily multifamily and he spent the first 25 years of his career helping apartment investors achieve their goals. In 1995 Joseph earned coveted Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation which consists of five thirty hour courses and the completion of a resume of transactional history. The CCIM designation is known as the PHD of commercial real estate. Particularly well versed in the area of Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code tax-deferred exchanges, Joseph advises clients in all aspects of commercial real estate property sales, investment and leasing. He received the Exchanger of the Year award in 1996 from the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. 1996 was the last year the award was given out. Between 2003 and 2008 Joseph was involved with the development, leasing and sales of 83,400 SF of industrial space in Journal Center II. He started developing apartment buildings in 2012 and in 2017 completed a 26 unit town home project called Indian Ridge. Located at 11910 Menaul Blvd. NE, the 39,596 SF residential development features 2 and 3 bedroom units, garages, granite countertops and pitched roofs. The construction period lasted 10 months but the property was 100% leased before construction was completed. As an owner and developer of investment, apartment and industrial properties, Joseph understands the importance of maximizing earnings potential and creating long term investment strategies. Joseph’s father, Joe Azar, has been an active broker in Albuquerque for over 55 years and his son, Clay, is now actively assisting customers buy, sell and lease commercial real estate. Joseph’s diligent, professional and qualified attributes have contributed to his continued success and will assist him in commercial real estate for many more years to come.
